Fullerton College’s Theatre Arts Department will be presenting Revenger’s Tragedy at the Bronwyn Dodson Theatre May 11, 12 and 13 at 7:00 p.m. and May 14 at 2:00 p.m.

This Jacobean tragedy, written by Thomas Middleton, takes place in a 15th century Italian court, where an Old Duke’s immoral endeavors are out in the open and a young man begins his angry revenge.

It doesn’t stop there, for the plot thickens and more revenge takes place as characters begin to clash.

Directed by Michael Mueller, the play reveals scandal, competition and of course tragedy, said only to be suitable for mature audiences.

The team is hard at work, rehearsing many times a week, as the opening night steers closer.

“Over the course of this semester, students have been working tirelessly to explore the nuances and intricacies of Thomas Middleton’s The Revenger’s Tragedy.” Mueller said. “This play addresses a genre that Shakespeare never really tackled, ‘black comedy.’ Students, faculty, and staff have generated an interpretation of this work that is classical in look and feel, but with contemporary twists that demonstrate the timeless nature of the work. This work is a Quentin Tarantino meets Guy Richie style of Hamlet without the narcissism.”

Michael Mueller himself is a combat instructor with Revenge Arts and a Certified Teacher with the Society of American Fight Directors (SAFD), among many other amiable titles and awards..

Tickets are available for pre-sale at $12.50 or $15 at the door. Seating will be reserved and guests can park in the structure off of Lemon street for a fee of $2.
