A variety of performances showcasing immense talent was performed by Fullerton College students at the Musicians at Work event on Thursday, May 17.

Nicola Bertoni and Arian Khaefi presided as directors of the show. Bertoni conveyed how the event is completely organized and prepared by the students and soloists.

“It’s kind of a talent show. They put together an act,” Bertoni said.

Beginning at 7:30 p.m., the theater invited quite a few families and friends to attend the annual event.

The night started out with a performance from the latest musical to hit theaters, “The Greatest Showman.” Followed were numerous familiar tunes, including the choir singing “A Road Home,” by Stephen Paulus. Lastly, a rendition of “Somebody To Love” by Queen was the night’s finale.

The annual event has been around for awhile, started by the Dean of Fine Arts and former Director of Choral Studies John Tebay.

“Students have been prepping this concert in earnest for three weeks, directly after the Masterworks concert,” Khaefi said.

One of the student performers, Jean-Claude Mouannes, had full confidence in the entirety of the night’s performance. Mouannes has been a student at Fullerton College for over four years and has been involved in over 40 performances, including tours.

“This school is full of really amazing musicians,” Mouannes said. “They put their heart and soul in the music. Even if we’re unprepared, we still sound amazing.”
