Fullerton College will celebrate the largest graduating class in its 103rd commencement ceremony. The ceremony is set to take place Saturday, May 26, at 9 a.m. on Sherbeck Field.

This marks the third year in a row that Fullerton College has seen a record numbers increasing among graduating students.

Up 17 percent from last year, this makes this year’s commencement ceremony an extremely special one.

“The fact that we have more students earning degrees, transferring to universities and achieving their college and career goals is something to be celebrated and testament to the collective work of both our students and our institution,” said Fullerton College President Greg Schulz.

This year’s largest graduating class doesn’t only have president Schulz excited but it also has the graduating students excited.

“Its very exciting to be graduating in the largest graduating class at Fullerton College. All of our hornets that are graduating worked hard to be here.” said Associated Student President Taylor Gaetje.

During the ceremony, Dr. Rajan Vaidya will deliver the keynote speech. Vaidya is part of Class of 2010 where he graduated with associate degrees in mathematics, economics, and chemistry. He has since gone on to receive his doctorate in pharmacy from the Keck Graduate Institute, School of Pharmacy.

“Students can expect a great ceremony with amazing commencement speakers and some fun graduation songs, ” Gaetje added.

This ceremony will also include recognition of this years Teacher of the Year, English professor, Dr. Miguel Powers, as well as outstanding student achievements.

Sherbeck Field will accommodate more then 800 graduating students and more then 7,000 guests are expected to be there in celebration. There is no cover charge for attending and parking is free for all graduates and guest.
