In the movie, the audience is filled in on some of the gaps of the previous movies. The mysterious story of Nick Fury and his missing eye is revealed in Captain Marvel, to the amusement of the audience.
It also gives a glimpse of how S.H.I.E.L.D. started and helps give Agent Colson, an agent of S.H.E.I.L.D that has been an integral part of the cinematic universe, a little more character depth.
Set in the 1990’s, the movie does a great job of capturing a nostalgic feel with its use of music, vehicles and props throughout the film.
From the R&B group TLC, to the rock stylings of No Doubt, to the Nine Inch Nails t-shirt Brie Larsen wears, the feel is set for those nostalgia seekers.
The film is the last installment before Avengers: End Game, the finale of the decades long battle with Thanos, a super intergalactic villain that wiped out half the planet at the end of Avengers: Infinity War.
Brie Larson is known for the movie Room, were she won her first ever Oscar for Best Actress. Her performance as Captain Marvel on screen is that of a strong, passionate and resilient woman for younger girls to look up to.
The character possesses Superman-like powers, and similar color scheme creating an identity that parallels the other franchise.
Overall, this film made for an entertaining and exciting movie. Captain Marvel checks all the boxes of a good superhero movie.
