In honor of fat Tuesday, also known as Mardi Gras, Bourbon Street Bar and Grill celebrates by hosting their annual Mardi Gras for Autism fundraising event on Saturday.

The fundraiser benefits the Fullerton Cares Autism Foundation.

This exciting and educational event started four years ago when co-owner of Bourbon Street, Larry Housers’ son, Boyd, was diagnosed with autism.

Housers and his business partner John Skehan decided to partner up with the foundation to bring this event to life.

They decided that Mardi Gras would be the best time to raise money for this cause since their restaurant’s theme is based off of New Orleans’ famous Bourbon Street.

Skehan mentioned that the event was a great success. He is thankful for the Fullerton residents who participated.

“What I love most about the Fullerton community is that even though it was raining, the community still came and showed their support as they do every year,” Skehan said.

Aside from fundraising the event, the co-founders aimed to bring families together and educate them while also raising awareness about autism.

The fundraiser festivity was filled with live entertainment, face painting and food and drinks for everyone to enjoy.

This event and fundraiser started on Saturday and continued into fat Tuesday. The proceeds from the bar’s signature drink, “Hurricane Cocktail”, a classic New Orleans style drink, were donated to the foundation.
