Munchie Monday Review: Calita Cafe

Offering milk teas and a variety of tasty snacks, Calita Café is located on the cross streets of Chapman Ave and Harbor Blvd and is walking distance from campus.

Starting with their strawberry coconut milk tea, it was not overly sweet and had a smooth consistency. The strawberry flavor blended together well with the coconut milk and didn’t overpower the other flavors in the drink.

Being a slightly different offering from the usual flavors, the rose milk tea was a creative mix of flavors. The rose flavor was not overly fragrant and did not overpower the drink. If you are looking to try a unique flavor, then this would be the drink to try.

Not a fan of milk tea? Then try their peach flavored jasmine tea.

The peach flavor had the right amount of sweetness and it tasted similar to peach gummy rings. The only difference was a light floral taste from the jasmine tea that matched well with the peach.

One of the snacks they offer on the menu is the Taiwanese popcorn chicken.

The chicken was coated perfectly in seasoned breadcrumbs, tender on the inside and not overly seasoned.

Next snack on the menu was their cheesy bacon fries.

The fries were crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside all topped with the gooey cheese that had a mild spicy kick to it. All of this was topped with crunchy pieces of bacon and a little more seasoning.

Their snacks are served in to-go boxes and if you’re feeling hungrier, they offer bento box meals as well.
