Disney+ is finally here and its original series The Mandalorian is making its way into the hearts of star wars fans.
Star Wars’ first live-action TV series “The Mandalorian” is definitely the forerunner and has the highest ratings out of the other original content available.
The series has a great cast starring “Game of Thrones” actor, Pedro Pasca as the Madalorian. Gina Carana who has appeared in “Deadpool” and Carl Weathers most famous for his role as Apollo Creed in the original “Rocky” movie.
The creator of the series, Jon Favreau most widely known for directing “Iron Man” and his work from other Disney franchises. Many viewers were wondering if the masked Mandalorian is either Jango or Boba Fett, but according to Favreau the timeline is set during the authority of the New Republic five years after the fall of the Empire and 25 years before the rise of the First Order.
The pilot episode is directed by Dave Filoni who is no stranger to the “Star Wars” franchise and has directed episodes for both animated “Star Wars” series “Star Wars: the Clone Wars,” “Star Wars Rebels” and “Star Wars Resistence.
His knowledge of Star Wars really came into play in “The Mandalorian” with the frequent use of visual effects and unique costume designs that really gave the show that classic Star Wars feel.
The show’s visual effects are a refreshing homage to the original blockbuster films with classic blasters and pod ships with modern CGI to give the tone of the original movies.
The show has a whopping 100 million dollar budget for the whole season and 12.5 million per episode. Which is not surprising with the number of visual effects in the show ranging from intense laser battles with droids to riding never before seen creatures.
Although the show doesn’t go into much detail about who the main character is or what his goals are, the first episode sets up the rest of the season with a nice surprise for fans.
The first episode displays our mysterious bounty hunter as a tough mandalorian of legend who would rather let his actions speak for him. Later forcing him with the difficult decision of following out his mission or giving in to his compassion.
Those who are not fans of Star Wars can still follow along as to what’s going on and what the show is all about. The cinematography of the action scenes and the world setting are enough to captivate casual viewers as well as long-time fans.
So far only one episode has been released but the schedule for the remainder of the season is as follows:

- Episode 3 – Friday, Nov. 22
- Episode 4 – Friday, Nov. 29
- Episode 5 – Friday, Dec. 6
- Episode 6 – Friday Dec. 13
- Episode 7 – Wednesday, Dec. 18
- Episode 8 – Friday, Dec. 27
