Luchador Urban Taqueria is not your typical Mexican food restaurant. The dining area was small but hosted a good amount of patio tables and chairs to seat large groups or multiple smaller ones.
As the menu is focused on bar food, the Luchador is able to add their own unique variations such as the Mole Tater tots or the traditional Mexican chicharrones and elote street corn. The menu also has a few vegan options such as avocado tacos and cauliflower nachos.
The elote street corn is a must-have for anyone visiting this restaurant. The corn itself was sweet, but the creamy mayo and various spices thrown in helped to balance out the flavors. Off-the-cob, the corn made for a delicious dip that could be enjoyed with chips or some of the other appetizers.
The cauliflower nachos were a nice surprise as it was softer than usual, but had a nice crunch to it because of its crispy exterior. The nachos themselves didn’t have a lot of flavor and needed to be dipped in either a ranch dressing or salsa.
Where the nontraditional style of Luchador falls short was in the mole tater tots. The tater tots themselves were fine however, the mole seemed to taste a bit off from what some might be used to.
Overall, the food was good and the portions were large enough for multiple people to share, but with each dish averaging around $11 I wouldn’t recommend it for your taco Tuesdays.
