On Friday, April 14, 2023, Fullerton College held its ninth FC Athletic Hall of Fame induction ceremony. The 1983 Shrine Potato Bowl championship football team were among 15 inductees recognized, amongst other athletes, coaches, and individuals who have given meritorious service to the Hornet athletic program. Under legendary coach Hal Sherbeck, the number four Fullerton Hornets defeated the number one Taft Cougars 28-7 to win their third national title. The Hornets Nest North Gym was converted into an elegant ball room with a grand stage to honor past athletes. Fullerton College's 1983 football championship Quarterback Gary Ruhlen was in attendance for the Hall of Fame ceremony. During the championship game Ruhlen went 20 for 28 passes for a total of 197 yards with four touchdowns to secure the win 28-7. Photo credit: Yasmin Sotelo
