Just twenty seconds into the second quarter, Schade was fouled inside the five meter line by Yzguerra. Troy’s leading leading scorer on the season hit the penalty shot to put the Warriors up 2-0. Fullerton’s Kaya Ortega answered back to put the Indians on the board.
Schade pulled off a spin move on a defender and threw an alley-oop lob to teammate Megan O’Malley who finished inside for the score. Once again, Ortega answered with a goal for Fullerton, prompting Troy to call a timeout.
The Warrior’s got their offense going as Schade rose high out of the water for a strong left handed shot and Karly Feenstra scored two goals to give Troy a 6-2 halftime lead.
Troy (11-3, 3-0) started the second half with two goals as Schade hit a lob from the right wing and O’Malley cleaned up a shot inside to put the lady Warriors up 8-2.
Fullerton (6-4,2-1) was not out the game yet, as freshman Sophie Zener got a steal and score. Ortega followed up with another shot to pull the Indians within four as they attempted to mount a comeback in the final period.
Fullerton goalkeeper Hannah Officer had a two handed block on Schade but the Troy captain responded by hitting a shot on the next play. After drawing a double team, Schade assisted on a goal by Feenstra after every Troy player touched the ball on the possession as it swung from left to right in less than five seconds.
Zener scored the final goal for the Indians, but Schade would not be outdone as she hit the last shot of the game to give her five goals on the game, guiding Troy to victory.
Troy’s defense halted any kind of comeback in the second half as they forced Fullerton far out on the perimeter, drawing multiple shot clock violations. The Warrior goalkeepers anchored the inside as Vendi Jors had six blocks in the first half and Kathleen Gross picked up five in the second.
