Lady Warriors run past La Habra

The lady Warriors Troy started the game on a 20-2 run, swinging the ball from side to side, breaking down the Highlander defense and scoring inside to finish of a decisive 61-12 win.

Junior guard Elaine Lin capped the first quarter with a block at the buzzer, highlighting the tough Troy defense.
The second quarter story stayed the same for Troy, as they forced a five second violation on La Habra’s inbound play in the opening possession. Utilizing their team’s size and length, the lady Warriors crashed the boards and capitalized on the extra opportunities. At one point, Troy picked up four offensive rebounds and Lin knocked down a three pointer to cap off the strong effort inside.
La Habra was held scoreless in the second quarter as Troy led 37 – 2 at halftime.
Troy would not let up in the third quarter as Kianna Smith and Naomi Hunt knocked down back to back three pointers. 6’1 forward Christine Wan carved her way inside, posting up the smaller La Habra defenders for a bucket.
Highlander guard Samantha Esquivel hit a three pointer to close the period, but the lady Warriors led 53-8 at the end of the third quarter.
La Habra was able to limit Troy to eight points in the fourth quarter, but Troy continued to dominate on the glass. Hunt picked up a rebound on her own missed free throw and laid it in to finish it out.  The lady Warriors improve to 14-6 and stay undefeated in league.
