On Feb. 24, 2023 reggaeton artist Karol G released her long awaited album called Mañana Será Bonito. There are 17 songs ranging from various topics like heartbreak, empowerment of women, and hope. Being a fan myself of her music, this album felt more raw and relatable. As her past albums have all been pretty much the same classic reggaeton and the lyrics weren’t as deep as this album.
The album debuted number one in the U.S. Billboard 200 chart, which is the first time all Spanish albums by a female artist reached the top chart. Another number one spot was also in the U.S. Top Latin Album chart.
Within the first week of it’s release all of the album’s tracks were clicked on 29 million times, it broke the record for the largest streaming week for a Latin album by any woman. Numbers don’t lie, she is a record setter and breaker and has proven she is one of the top selling in our generation.
On August 10th, 2023 she later released Mañana Sera Bonito (Bichota Season) mixtape which included nine more songs with some being remixes and some add-ons.
Her tour broke many records around the world, and in various countries and not to mention that this tour was a stadium only tour. She is also the first Latina to do a global stadium tour.
Starting her tour in the U.S. her two most notable shows here were a complete hit and the hottest tour of 2023. Karol sold-out the Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena, which holds a capacity of 89,702 attendees, for two consecutive nights on Aug. 18 and 19. Another notable venue was the MetLife stadium in New Jersey, which sold out for two nights in a row on Sept. 7 and 8.
In total, Karol G presented herself in the U.S., Latin America, Mexico, and Europe. She had a total of 62 shows kicking off from Aug. 10, 2023 through July 23rd, 2024.
On top of all that, she received Billboard’s Woman of the Year award on March 6th, 2024. This recognition was due to her success on her tour and to honor her talent. She performed her hit song, “Amargura,” and paid a tribute to her Columbian roots by singing with an all women band.
It’s safe to say that Karol is slowly but surely getting her flowers from outsiders that don’t listen to latin music. She has clearly made a name for herself and it shows in numbers and awards but seeing her name at the top with male artists.
She is representing women in music and the top of the leaderboard by putting her in the same spot as reggaeton artist Bad Bunny. She is an international success and has accomplished unimaginable things in such a short time.
As a fan of hers, she truly is an inspiration for women not only in music, but an example that women can accomplish anything and everything. All of this contributed to the immediate success and reaction from listeners all over the world.
