Jaxon’s has become a hotspot for locals to get jumbo chicken tenders, Reba’s Mac & Cheese, the Elvis Sandwich, Billy Ray’s Mac N Queso Bowl, and a pint at Barrel & Stave Brewery Co. The menu features popular items such as tenders, sandwiches, and mac & cheese, all made with house-made sauces and served in large portions. Since 2020, the restaurant has built a loyal following thanks to its rich flavors and generous portions. Located in Downtown Fullerton, the space includes black-and-white checkered tablecloths, brick walls, and retro-inspired décor. It balances nostalgic charm with a modern twist and provides a laid-back vibe that creates space worth revisiting.

The restaurant has a fun and easygoing atmosphere. The space features red-painted walls, exposed brick, checkered tablecloths, and music icon portraits that add a retro feel. Flat-screen TVs, counter seating, and an outdoor patio with red tables make it a casual spot to eat, hang out, or grab a quick meal between classes.

This eatery serves up jumbo crispy golden tenders in two to four piece meals with crinkle fries, pickles, and your choice of 12 house-made sauces. The comfort food menu includes mac and cheese, cajun fries, and coleslaw. The Billy Ray’s Mac N Queso Bowl stands out as a popular choice. Sandwich options include spicy chicken sandwiches and burgers, while group favorites like bacon cheese fries and chicken taquitos make great shareables. Lighter picks include grilled chicken salad and tortilla soup.

Joseph Mahon, the chef and owner of Jaxon’s, took my order at the register. Mahon was knowledgeable about menu options and was friendly. He explained that my food would be taken to my table. Soon after, I walked over to the self-serve drink station and tried their blueberry lemonade. A courteous employee named Maria brought my order to my table within less than ten minutes.

The three Piece Jumbo Meal with cajun crinkle fries and sliced pickle smelled good. The heat level I selected was spicy for the large tenders, which were crisp with a golden crust on the outside and soft and juicy on the inside. Dipping the tenders in the cajun sauce added a creamy flavor with some heat but did not overpower the taste. The cajun fries were crunchy and soft within. Dunking these zesty fries in buttermilk gave a rich, creamy taste. The $16.99 meal with tenders and crinkle cajun fries delivers on flavor and portion, earning my full recommendation.

The Elvis Chicken sandwich stacks crispy tenders with pepper jack, lettuce, tomato, and pickles on a soft French roll, all tied together with Jaxon’s sauce. Each bite of the Elvis is crunchy, creamy, and super filling with a flavor that rocks. The cajun crinkle fries on the side are hot, crispy, and flavorful, especially when dipped in ranch. The seasoning adds a kick that pairs perfectly with the cool ranch. At $14.89, this combo is worth the calories.

Reba’s Mac & Cheese comes in a large foam cup packed with soft elbow noodles and thick, golden cheese sauce. It’s creamy, cheesy, and buttery, with just enough salt to keep it flavorful. Each spoonful delivers a warm, smooth bite that’s filling from start to finish. The pasta holds its shape and pairs well with tenders or stands on its own. At $7.99, it’s a solid comfort side.
Billy Ray’s Mac N Queso Bowl was a cheesy combo that piles two jumbo spicy tenders sliced up over a bed of creamy mac and cheese. The chicken strips were extra soft and moist with a bit of heat. The mac underneath was smooth and buttery, coated with every bite. The spices from the golden strips mix into the mac, giving it an extra kick. It’s messy but delicious, with a flavor that stands out.

“The Billy Ray’s Mac & Queso Bowl with two spicy tenders is the most popular menu item,” said Maria. This was evident since customers kept ordering this bowl while I was there. At $14.99, it was a great choice if you’re craving something hearty and filling.
