OC Restaurant Week, a seven day event is offering numerous fixed price or prix fixe menus with Slater’s 50/50 featuring dishes that have never been unveiled before.
Slater’s 50/50 is among the list of restaurants that are hard to pass up, especially when they offer any type of special menu. This restaurant pleases burger and beer lovers of all kind and specializes in customized over-the-top burgers that can be made with their famous half-bacon and half-beef patties. The fun part is the opportunity they give to name your creation.
What’s appealing about their menu is that it includes new items that have never been tried before and are undergoing a trial period to see which one(s) will get a permanent spot on the daily menu. The three appetizers are: Pastrami Egg Rolls with Apple Butter, Korean Hot Sauce Wings and a Hummus Medley. The three burger choices are: Southern Fried Chicken Sandwich, Tequila Chorizo Fundido Burger and a Turkey Leg French Dip. All of the dishes offer interesting combinations and persuades our mind to try them all.
The lunch and dinner menu are both exactly the same except for one addition to the dinner option, dessert. They add five extra dollars for the choice of either a Peanut Butter Patty Push-Pop or a Caramel Delight Push-Pop. The Push-Pop is basically ice cream with hard cookie chunks in it. Although it seemed like a fun idea for a simple dessert, it leaves your hands sticky and your mind regretful, wishing you would’ve spent that five dollars on a beer instead.
As excited as one may be to try new items on a menu, prix fixe menus limit your options which leave a larger possibility for disappointment. In this case, Slater’s 50/50 deserves credit for creating a menu of items that have never been tried before, but it’s best to leave the creative combinations to your own imagination.
