The Fullerton men’s tennis team was defeated by Saddleback College in Orange Empire Conference match Thursday March 12. The Hornets were out matched by the number two team in the conference for the second time this week falling to 1-5 in conference play.
Fullerton (5-8 OEC) battled tough to no avail, falling 9-0. The Hornets fielded a young team, starting all but one freshman.
Hornets team captain Daniel Garcia, paired with Fermin Arcos, had the best chance of winning a match for Fullerton in a doubles match. After splitting the first four sets, they fell short losing 8-4. Coach Rodger See acknowledged the quality of their opponent and looks forward to the rest of the season.
Fullerton travels to Irvine Valley for a conference match. The Gauchos head to Orange Coast. Both matches are set for Tuesday at 2 p.m.
