If you’ve ever been to the Vans Warped Tour you know how much water is consumed throughout the long day. The large consumption of water results in empty water bottles flying through mosh pits.

Some dates of this summer tradition since 1995 reach temperatures over 100 degrees. Not only does this cause more plastic waste from water bottles but some venues sell cans of beer and other various drinks in red plastic cups.

In previous years, there were official Vans Warped Tour water canteens available to purchase if you forgot yours at home.

On each date of the Vans Warped Tour, there are up to 20 volunteers that arrive before gates open and stay throughout the day to make sure that bottles and cans around the venue get picked up.

Ultimately, the goal of Warped Tour is to have zero waste meaning that they leave nothing behind and leave the grounds spotless.

“This year, I’d love to be able to leave each night knowing that the grounds are clean and we haven’t left anything behind,” said Hannah Cleek, the Vans Warped Tour Environmental Sustainability Manager.

Vans Warped Tour plans to add educational areas at their upcoming 2015 dates that start in Pomona, Calif. on June 19 and finishes in Auburn, Wash. on August 8.

This summer you can help the Vans Warped Tour go green by bringing your own refillable water canteens and utilizing the refill stations located at the venue. Picking up trash and making sure that they items make it in their respective trash bins helps the cleanup volunteers and the planet you live on in more ways than you think.
