Joe Jonas has been pretty quiet in the music business since he and his brothers went their separate ways after years of being the Jonas Brothers.
On September 10th, shortly after DJing a set in Conn., over Labor Day Weekend, Jonas made a quiet announcement via Twitter and Instagram with a short 15 second video. The video did not contain much context other than “@dnce” as the caption.
On the DNCE Twitter page, the bio reads: “your new favorite band.” There is also a link to their website.
This Republic Records-signed, four-piece, Los Angeles based band has some familiar faces other than just Jonas, the lead singer: Jack Lawless, former drummer of the Jonas Brothers; JinJoo Lee, guitarist for Charlie XCX, Jordan Sparks and other well known musicians; and finally, Cole Whittle, one of the founding members of Semi-Precious Weapons.
DNCE is making headlines on websites like FuseTV, Billboard, and MTV. Celebrities like Emily Osment and YouTuber Tyler Oakley have taken to twitter to exclaim their excitement about this new project.
Their debut song “Cake By The Ocean” starts out with a cool riff and claps that leads into the familiar vocals sang by Jonas. With a fun upbeat tempo this is far different than what people will remember hearing from the JoBros days.
If the rest of their songs are as energetic as this single the crowd at their concerts will be off their feet the entire time.
The band will aim to “DNCE” its way back in the hearts of old Jonas supports as well as getting more ears listening to their crazy beats.
