The Lady Hornets played host and gave a strong performance in front of their fans against the
Eagles, who beat them 5-0 earlier in the season. Despite the loss, the FC showed marked improvement, taking two of the first four matches, before dropping the fifth.
Alex Smith and Mallory Koci got the Hornets off to a good start taking two of three sets and the match. They were able to take the first set 25-23 behind some good serving of Smith. After dropping the second set, Smith and Koci dominated the last set giving the Hornets the advantage.
Hornets Alex Winfield and Mariah Gonzalez were the other winners on the day. After dropping the first set they were forced to battle back to salvage anything for the Hornets. The second set was back and forth, before Winfield was able to find her serve and Gonzalez began to find her spots with floating shots.
Winfield and Gonzalez dominated the last set taking the match for the Hornets, making the fifth match the decider.
Concordia took the fifth match in only two sets to end the Hornets upset bid.
Fullerton (6-3, 2-1) will be in action Friday April 8 against Orange Coast College on the campus of Irvine Valley College. The match is scheduled to start at noon.
