Fullerton College performance groups are gearing up for their up coming concerts. The light will shine on groups like The Cabana Boys, The Symphonic Winds Orchestra, The Combo Jazz Band and The Electronic Music Ensemble.
Many of these groups are award-winning bands and all have several albums out. The Cabana Boys are an ensemble directed by Greg Woll. It’s a high-energy show featuring sounds of Jazz, Rock, Pop, Latin and fusion music. This year’s group is a mixture of two returning members and six new members.
“I am very excited about this year. I cannot wait to perform with the Cabana Boys,” said music major Jordan Windwright. “This is my second year with the Cabana Boys.”
Shows are set for Friday, November 22 to Saturday, November 23 at 8:00p.m. in the Campus Theater.
The Symphonic Winds Ensemble is an ensemble directed by Dr. Anthony Mazzaferro. The award-winning Orchestra band is made up of music majors all from Fullerton College. They perform from the classical music era. “This band has a lot of energy throughout their concert they really know how to perform. Dr. Mazzaferro has them in check,” said tuba player Jerry Ruben.
This year’s show is set for Wednesday, October 30 at 8:00p.m. and Thursday, December 5 at 8:00p.m. in the Campus Theater.

This concert features our three award winning instrumental jazz combos. These groups are made up of music majors at Fullerton College performing written and improvised jazz ranging in style from Dixieland to Fusion.
“We are working together and everyone in this band goes very well with each other,” said Jerry Grant, tenor saxophone player. “We are pretty close now, and will only get stronger as the season goes along.”
Dr. Joe Jewell is director of the combo 2, an award-wining band. “We have a lot of energy to carry us through the season,” said drummer Nick Hon.
Mike Scott is the director of the small eight combo piece band. Performing old fashion Jazz sounds, the award-wining jazz group is set for Thursday, November 14 at 8:00 p.m. in the Campus Theater.
The show The Electronic Music Sound Cloud Concert is under the direction of Marcus Burger, Fullerton College Electronic Music Coordinator. Sound Cloud Concert is put on by the electronic music student’s ensemble. A special guest artist is set to perform along with hip-hop artist, Boy Junior and other several student bands. DJ’s David Anthony and DJ’ Shamrock will also be performing. Dana Parker, Fullerton Electronic music instructor will perform alone with his band on keyboard.
“I am looking forward to the Electronic music concert,” said music student Terrence Harris. “As a hip-hop artist, I am looking to see how the different mixture of music is played.”
The show is set for December 9th at 8:00 p.m. in the Campus Theater.
