Alejandra Rodriguez won first place in the painting category at the Fullerton College Art Awards Show on Tuesday evening.
Rodriguez used Canadian singer, songwriter, and producer Grimes as her subject in her painting.
She was inspired by how Grimes first started off making and producing her own music and is proud of how far she has come in the past 6 years as an artist.
Because of Grimes’s independence and self-determination, Rodriguez inspires to approach her art the same way as Grimes with her music.
In this video, Rodriguez talks about how she got into painting, how she saw painting and the arts as a hobby but then she soon realized that she can combine her love of the arts and her love of teaching together to inspire others to explore into their creative side.
She hopes that she too can spark inspiration into her future students like Grimes has inspired her.
