“Onward” from Disney’s Pixar, is a tale of two teenage elf brothers, Ian and Barley Lightfoot, voiced by Tom Holland and Chris Pratt, live in a world of forgotten magic.

Ian being the kinder and more conservative of the two tried to take a more pragmatic approach throughout the journey of the movie. Barley, the bigger and more boastful character played the role of the bigger brother who tends to do before he thinks.

In the movie, they discover a message from there father who has passed away reminding them of the abilities to use magic. The two brothers start a journey to bring their father back to life for one day.

Holland and Prat do a great job of capturing their character’s personality within the story to make the movie more believable. The brother’s characters in the movie lend a helping hand to balances each other and create a great duo for this film.

This is the second film by director Dan Scandlen, who also directed Monsters University. The film is not based on any books or stories that have been re-created by Pixar.

The movie boasted a $40 million revenue over its first weekend, but others had predicted much higher. This may be due to the impact of the COVID-19, keeping people away from movie theaters. The budget for this movie was approximately between $175-$200 million.

The movie has incredible animation, per usual for Pixar movies, and makes the audience feel as though they are watching a real-life move with subtle animation added to create a hyper-realism experience.

The story has a lot of good meaning, well-written themes and lessons placed as typical of Pixar movies. “Onward” is very enjoyable from start to finish for children as well as adults and should be great a film fo years to come.
