The Fullerton College baseball team clinched the three-game season series against Golden West with a 5-1 win, and extended their winning streak to six games, March 20.
FC baseball is now sitting in first place by one game with a 7-2 record in conference play. The Hornets jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning, and never lost the lead.
Dylan Prohoroff started on the mound for the Hornets, and got the win after pitching 6.2 innings. He extended his record to 4-0, after giving up zero earned runs, and striking out five.
“They are a good hitting baseball team, but he got out of innings by making some good pitches at the right time and kept us in it,” said Head Coach Nick Fuscardo.
Jake Lyons and Parker Merritt came in to relieve Prohoroff, before Austin Sweet came in for the save.
Tanner Brown picked up the loss for Golden West, as he went six innings, gave up ten hits and two earned runs.
Dakota Wix led the way offensively for the Hornets, as he went 2-3 at the plate, with a double, sac-fly RBI, and a walk. KC Huth also added two more hits, and scored two runs.
The Hornets, 17-5 overall, will try to extend their winning streak to seven games when they host Saddleback College this Saturday at noon.
“Saddleback is a tough team. We’re taking them one game at a time, our guys are competing hard and they’re doing well,” Fuscardo said.
