Troy came into the game seeking to build on an impressive regular season and make a statement as they faced Foothill in the first round.
And that’s just what they did. Lead by senior midfielder captain Kristen Chong’s two goals, the Lady Warriors shut out Foothill 3-0.
Chong scored the opening goal from fourteen feet early to put the Lady Warriors up 1-0.
She scored her other goal from thirty feet out as it sailed over the outstretched arms of Foothill’s goalkeeper to put Troy up 2-0 at halftime.
In the second half, Brianna Diaz drew three Foothill defenders and passed to forward Abigail Sharma who scored a wide open-goal.
The Troy defense limited Foothill scoreless, a team that averages 1.3 goals in the first half and 2.4 goals a game overall.
Troy plays against No. 14 Westlake (15-0-2, 8-0-2) on Tuesday.
