Every girl deserves to be a princess

A charity beauty drive to help under-privileged girls be able to attend prom was hosted by Execudeeva Inc. on Saturday at the Cantina Lounge. The beauty drive provides low-income teen girls, and those in foster homes a day of pre-prom shopping at no cost.

The event intended to raise money for the annual Belle of the Ball, as well as receive any donations of prom dresses, shoes, jewelry, make-up and purses.

Belle of the Ball is an annual event hosted by Women Helping Women, Orange Coast College, Orangewood Children’s Foundation and Girls Incorporated.

This year, a team of hair and make-up artists named the Classic Glamour Dolls helped sponsor the event.

“We’re going to do their make-up, teach them how to do their make-up, and help them pick out dresses and shoes for the prom,” said Owner of Execudeeva Inc. DeeDee Rice.

According to Mindy Lopez, a vender at the event, all vendors paid a fee to be there, which go directly toward Belle of the Ball.

Belle of the Ball has served over 1,000 at-risk teens throughout all of Orange County since 2007, according to WHW.

Belle of the Ball also offers girls an opportunity to attend self-empowerment building workshops, focused on self-image and body awareness.

“These are girls who are underprivileged and without our help would not be able to experience every young girl’s dream of attending their high school prom,” said Rice.

350 girls are scheduled to attend the ball on March 23 at Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa.

55 dresses have been donated so far, and they are hoping to bring in at least 100 more. They are also in need of shoes, jewelry and any unused make up.
