Angels Baseball Kickoff Event is a Home Run

Associated Students hosted a kick-off event to promote the upcoming Fullerton College Night at Angel Stadium Friday, April 5.

The event offered many prizes for students who wanted to go up to booths and participate in activities. Music played throughout the quad and students went around winning free items.

Angels Baseball, Associated Students, Health Services, and Sociology club each had a booth on the quad featuring prizes and interactive activities. One booth even served free hot dogs in the true spirit of baseball.

The booth hosted by Angels Baseball included a wheel to spin for free Angels merchandise including tote bags, hats, and baseball cards.

Nic Fiore, freshman nursing major at FC, attended and enjoyed the event. When asked why he was attending the event he said, “I was walking to class, heard the music and wanted to stop for a free hot dog. Everyone running the stands was really nice and it was an exciting start to my day.”

Besides promoting Fullerton College Night at the Angel Stadium, the event was designed to promote that college is more than just academics.

Associated Student’s Vice President of Activities Aaron Untiveros mentioned that the purpose of the Fullerton College Night at Angel Stadium is to, “get the whole Fullerton College community out together to have fun and celebrate.”

Beyond being a fun activity for the community, profits will be going towards Students of Distinction (a scholarship fund) and the FC food bank, Untiveros added.

FC students Melissa Bayon and Angelina Velez had a blast at the kickoff and participated in a game at the Health Services booth.

“It’s pretty cool, we learned about protein intake thanks to the Health Services Booth,”said Bayon.

Velez addded, “It’s pretty fun, I like the idea that you’re using the wheel and trying to guess the answers to questions at the Health Services booth. I mean I sort of got it right!”

The Night at Angels Stadium will start with a tailgate around 5:30 p.m. and continue in the stadium as the Angels play the Texas Rangers around 7 p.m.

“We have a great time. We have our tailgating party, we have games for the kids, we have music on, free food, and it’s awesome,” said AS Adviser Crockrom.

Tickets are being sold for $25 and will come with a co-branded FC and Angels hat. There will also be Mike Trout Silver Slugger bobble heads for the first 30,000 guests at the game.

Tickets for the tailgate, hosted by the FC Associated Students, are $5. The voucher includes chips, a hot dog and drink, along with activities. There will also be Fullerton College branded giveaways.

Both vouchers can be purchased at the Brusar’s Office in building 2000 or online at www.angels.com/fullcoll
