The question of whether heaven exists or not has always been a huge debatable topic. There are many that believe it doesn’t exist. However, two weeks ago, heaven opened its doors and shined out of the storefront of, Afters Handcrafted Ice Cream in Fountain Valley.

Afters is a new but not so typical ice cream shop. They are known for serving what many would consider a strange yet intriguing combination of blending a warm breakfast with an ice-cold dessert.

The ice cream parlor has given birth and introduced Orange County to the donut they dubbed as the milky bun. The Milky bun, a delicious freshly made donut pressed, sealed and filled with handcrafted ice cream that will appeal to any taste buds.

According to the Afters website, they have sold over 10,000 milky buns. The website also helps new customers understand the process of filling their glazed or plain milky bun donut with four easy steps.

Once the choice of the milky bun has been established, the customer gets to choose one of 16 one-of-a-kind ice cream flavors, add a filling or what most would consider a topping and then the donut gets sealed. The rest is up to you to enjoy what Afters calls, “heaven in your mouth.”

The milky bun is $5 and the customer is provided with one free topping while any additional topping is an extra 50 cents each. If a customer is not feeling adventurous they can order the milky bun or ice cream by itself.

Customers rave about the Cookie Monster ice cream flavor. It is vanilla ice cream that is dyed blue to resemble that of the beloved Sesame Street character, mixed with Chips Ahoy! and Oreo cookies.

All of the flavors are unique. The milky bun and ice cream blending together leave your stomach grumbling for more, which is most likely why the wait can sometimes be over an hour.

While this may sound absurd, most customers would agree that this sweet treat is definitely worth the wait.
