Munchie Monday Review: 85°C Bakery Cafe

Looking for a quick treat at an affordable price in between study sessions? 85°C Bakery Cafe in Fullerton is a great place to stop.

85°C Bakery Cafe serves pastries, cakes, coffee and tea. Located near CSUF, it’s a great place to stop for quick, affordable treats that run at around four dollars and under.

The bakery is has a cafeteria-like, serve-yourself atmosphere. They bake their goods in the back and bring them out throughout the day into their display cases for customers to serve themselves.

Customers can pick their cakes at the display near the check-out register if they desire an extra sweet treat. At the register, customers can also request coffee, tea and boba teas.

Getting fresh baked treats is pure luck depending on when you come as they are not able to reheat anything.

The baked goods seem to sit in the display case until someone picks it to eat, fresh or not.

Some of the treats don’t need reheating, but some of them taste better fresh and hot, like their cheese dog. It was delicious but it had been sitting out for some time so it was not hot and fresh.

Other pastries and baked goods like their marble taro bread and mangotale were very yummy with the flavors weaved through the bread, they were moist and enjoyable to eat.

The cakes were beautiful and affordable, but after trying the double cheese cake, you definitely get what you pay for.

The texture of the cheesecake is not what would be expected from a traditional cheesecake and the flavor was a bit bland.

Their boba milk tea is your average run-of-the-mill tea. It is convenient to enjoy with the pastries and desserts.

If you’re looking for artisan boba teas, 85°C Bakery Cafe may not be the ideal choice.

Showing up to 85°C Bakery Cafe after 6 p.m. seems to result in more picked over treats that aren’t very fresh even though they are open until 10 p.m.

The kitchen closes at 7 p.m. and it feels like the whole bakery goes on closing mode after that so it may not be the best place for late commuters or evening study sessions.

They do offer outlets for phones and computer plug-ins and there is a parking structure located near the entrance. They do not offer Wi-Fi.

85°C Bakery Cafe in Fullerton is located on 535 N Commonwealth Ave and is open from 7 a.m.-10 p.m. Monday-Saturday and 8 a.m.-10 p.m. on Sundays.
