It’s time to buckle up and get ready for a wild ride in “Terminator: Dark Fate.”
“Terminator: Dark Fate” was directed by Tim Miller who is best known for directing “Deadpool” by 21st Century Fox.
This new sequel is set in 2020 and interlocks with the timeline in “Terminator 2: Judgement Day”. The characters from the previous movie were aged appropriate. They matured well in chronological order. There is a smooth transition in these time periods. This helps give the movie authenticity.
“Terminator: Dark Fate” is the third in the Terminator films with writer/producer James Cameron’s name on the project. The latest film reunites the storylines from the original “Terminator” released in 1984 and “Terminator 2: Judgement Day” released in 1991.
Arnold Schwarzenegger reprises is his role as T-800 living among the populace, learning vast amounts of knowledge and adapting to the human race. He has matured gracefully with silver hair and matching beard.
Linda Hamilton returns as Sarah Conner in the role that defined her acting career. Conner grew into a warrior out of necessity. She has honed those combatant skills to perfection. This lady evolved into an anti-terminator and is evident in how she battles with the killing machines.
Natalia Reyes plays Daniella who is being hunted down by the deadliest terminator unit ever assembled.
Mackenzie Davis plays Grace an enhanced augmented super soldier. She is a tall hybrid, athletically toned, woman who shadows and tenaciously guards her little friend.
What stood out was the 28 year reunion of the T-800 and the Sarah Conner characters fighting side by side protecting another important person against the machines.
The film was fast paced, intense, immense and full of suspense. There is multiple well-choreographed hand to hand fight scenes. Among the two terminator models and the female hybrid/super soldier. This motion picture is a two-hour action-packed powerhouse.
“Terminator: Dark Fate” had a budget of a 185 million dollars. An immense difference from the production cost of original Terminator. The classic had a modest production cost of 6.5 million. With a difference of 178.5 million dollars the contrast is visible with the high production of the cinematography. “Terminator: Dark Fate” took the number one spot in the box office this weekend, earning 29 million domestically and 123.6 million world wide.
