It’s time to make room for Elbows Mac n’ Cheese, a restaurant in Downtown Brea, nestled in between Bruxie’s and Edwards Theater. Elbows serves up new twists of the all-American homestyle dish.
Don’t let the modern feel of exposed brick walls, stainless steel and wood furniture fool you, this place serves up hot and cheesy deliciousness. Featured on the counter tops were some sides such as freshly made chipstix and thin potato chips skewered on sticks. Other options include soup, salad and sandwiches. The only sweet item on the menu is Beignets, a fried dough covered in powdered sugar.
They also offer gluten-free versions for an extra fee.
Despite the busy line, the cashier was friendly and helpful. She was patient while patrons stood with their mouth’s watering from the many offerings like, Easy Cheesy Caprese which featured roasted tomatoes, fresh garlic and basil in a creamy mozzarella and parmesan sauce. Also on the menu is the Jalapeño Business which comes with spicy jalapeños and cheddar cheese topped with jalapeno slices and fresh tortilla chips.
The chefs are quick with the orders. The dishes are served in hot ceramic skillets and may look small but the gooey, indulgent morsels are sure to fill your stomach.
The place was filled with satisfied customers.
“We are coming back here for sure,” said Eli Di Ioia, Fullerton College student. “The quality of the food is good and I would recommend it.”
The only downside of Elbows is that it’s a small place and seating fills up fast, especially on the weekends. It’s recommended to call ahead to make an order and take it to go.
Elbows is located at 215 West Birch Street in Brea.
Hours of operation: 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday-Wednesday and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday-Saturday. For more information visit www.elbowsmacncheese.com.
