Campus Safety doubled officer presence on campus and have increased patrols around building 400, according to an emailed campus notice from President Cynthia Olivo on March 14. Additionally, a marked Fullerton Police Department unit has been stationed near the building.
The notice also mentioned that Director of Campus Safety, John Krok, will visit three classes involved in the incident on Monday, March 17.
These actions come after a student was charged with a felony after writing a threatening message directed at an unidentified professor at Fullerton College on Wednesday, March 5. The Fullerton Crimes Against Persons Detectives initiated an investigation into the matter after Fullerton Police Department officers were alerted by Fullerton College.
“After a comprehensive investigation, an 18-year-old male resident of Placentia was identified as the suspect,” Kristy Wells, public information specialist for the Fullerton Police Department told The Hornet in an emailed statement. “He was taken into custody on March 7, 2025, and booked on a felony charge for threatening a school official.”
According to a campus notice by Olivo emailed from Fullerton College on March 9, she stated that the note referenced a “school shooting” and was witnessed and reported by a faculty member. The notice also read that the student had been charged, is no longer allowed on campus and that the student will face disciplinary proceedings according to the Student Conduct process.
“Collaboration between police departments and colleges is essential for maintaining the safety and well-being of students and faculty on campus. The staff at Fullerton College notified the police department immediately, which allowed officers to inform the investigating detectives and resulted in a timely arrest,” Wells added. “At this time, there are no known similar threats to Fullerton College or any other threats made by this particular suspect.”
