The Deadites Are Back!!

Originally written for publishing on April 12, 2013.

Thirty years ago director Sam Rami gave us the incredible cult classic that spawned one of the greatest trilogies of movie history. Now the evil deadites are back and this time they are gorier and bloodier than ever before.

The movie takes place thirty years after the original “Evil Dead”, so its not really a remake, as more of a reimagining and a sequel, much like what “Tron: Legacy” tried to do couple years back and with the hopes of a big crossover movie with Bruce Campbell returning as the classic horror movie hero Ash.

Fair warning if you have not seen this movie yet, it is not for the weak stomached.

There is an insane amount of gore and brutal violence in this film. That being said, if you are a fan of horror movies and an even bigger fan of classic horror films, you will love this reimagining of a classic.

The story is pretty simple enough and stays true to the original. Five friends go to a cabin in the middle of the woods. They find a book bound in human flesh and inked in blood, named The Book of the Dead, or the Necronomicon Ex Mortis. To not piss off fans of the original, one friend decides not to heed the warnings and starts to read from the book which unleashes an evil from the depths of hell itself.

I’m sure you all can imagine what happens after the evils from Hell are unleashed and what happens next to the group stranded in the woods.

The movie is a great ride from what most horror movies have been lacking for a long time. It’s filled with the gore we are used to seeing nowadays but with the suspense that made all these classic horror films movies we all know and love. I mean the classics like the 1970’s horror movies; the films that made me love horror.
