After a season filled with struggles, Hornets men’s volleyball finished strong with a 3-1 victory over Santiago Canyon Wednesday afternoon in the Hornets’ Nest.

Wednesday’s match brought the Hornets (4-17, 2-6) their second win over the Hawks this year, but only their fourth victory across the entire 2024 season. Though the Hornets took the match, competition was fierce, with each set ending with less than an eight-point spread.

Recovering from losses in the first two sets, the Hawks came alive in the third and suppressed the Hornets’ early momentum in an impressive display of energy and teamwork. Ultimately, though, that energy did not carry the Hawks (1-17, 0-7) through the final set, and Fullerton won the match without need for a fifth-set tiebreaker.

The match marks the final competition in a difficult 21-match season for the Hornets. A young team, the Hornets expect a majority of their roster to return for the 2024-25 season.
