Review for Lana Del Rey concert in the Sleep Train Amphitheater in Chula Vista

On May 16. 2015 the Sleep Train Amphitheater in Chula Vista, Calif. welcomed indie songstress Lana Del Rey to it’s stage with a special guest appearance by Courtney Love.

The Sleep Train amphitheater was just one stop of many of Lana Del Rey’s, “The Endless Summer Tour 2015”, which began May 7th in Woodlands, Texas and is scheduled to end June 16 in West Palm Beach, Florida .

The original 7:30 p.m. scheduled time for the concert was running late. But, finally around 8:30, after much anticipation, rock icon Courtney Love finally took the stage as the opening act. She started off with praising Lana Del Rey for the amazing opportunity and later performed her set. Her whole performance had the fans in a more, feel good anticipation for Lana Del Rey.

Lana started the concert with her title song from her most recent album, “Ultraviolence.” The audience became anxious because during the first song the band was overpowering Lana’s voice making it hard to hear her sing. Half way through the second song while she was singing she abruptly stopped singing and told the band to “turn down the bass.”

During the third song a very frustrated Lana told her band to stop playing and had a sound check. After the sound check, she also demanded a cigarette, which, of course, is typical Lana. The anxious fans were finally able to enjoy each moment of the concert and hear the unique voice of Lana.

The final song of the concert was, “Off to the races,” from her 2012 album, “Born to die.”

Her voice on stage proves that she does give it all she has but as an overall stage presence. Her music is so detailed and expressive that you just wish her physical performance would match.

Overall Lana Del Rey brings a unique, sensual yet nostalgic sound and style of music drawing influence from 1950’s and 1960 pop culture. Fans could never go wrong with this unique euphoric music.
