This spring semester at Fullerton College will be remembered in its history for many years. Sept. 25, 2013 marks the 100 year anniversary since Fullerton College first opened its classrooms to students.

In honor of the centennial, staff, students, and celebration organizers are hosting 1913 Day on campus to showcase what life was like for students during the first semester of school at Fullerton College.

1913 Day will take place Tuesday on the Quad from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. There will be several events and guest speakers, as well as performances from the Fullerton Community Band and theater arts department to help celebrate the centennial. There will be a period baseball game, alumni speakers and a photo booth sponsored by the Fullerton College Photography Club for attendees.

Demonstrations by special guest performers Harry Houdini and Henry Ford will be dramatizing events and historical moments from 1913.

“Think cornfield moment in ‘Field of Dreams.’ The characters will be coming out of the cornfield of our college’s first year memories,” Dean of Fine Arts Robert Jensen described.

Students and guests are welcome and encouraged to come take part in the true centennial experience. Everyone is encouraged to get in the spirit and dress in attire from 1913. Costumes are available for rent at the Fullerton Civic Light Opera in downtown Fullerton.
