Pumpkin spice up your life

As customers enter any Starbucks store for the next few months they are encompassed with the idea that “where there’s fall, there’s spice.”

It is a definite thing thought of when it comes to fall and, whether we like it or not, there will be a ceaseless view of the color orange everywhere. For some, they may unwillingly think of the ever popular pumpkin spice flavor.

Starbucks has brought it into season again starting in September, and one can feel the excitement amongst coffee lovers in the air–even with the hustle and bustle of the early morning rush.

“The Pumpkin Spice Latte really is my favorite,” said Tyler Levesque, a Starbucks barista. “So I’m excited that it’s back and that we have all the pumpkin flavored food back! It brings about that holiday feeling.”

It all started when the Pumpkin Spice Latte – PSL for short – that made its debut January 2003. Starbucks had been improving their menu to include all things seasonal, and came up with new food items that could be paired with customers’ favorite drinks.

Ever since the pumpkin spice flavor hit the market, it’s been the number one item that social media shows everyone drinking.

Although, it’s not just limited to drinks. It’s flavor and scent has been added to candles, shampoos, lotions, and other scents. So, really, if there was ever a need to have a house smelling like a pumpkin customers could go virtually anywhere and stores would have it this season.

Over the next few months, there may also be no way to go through the day without seeing the constant feed of pictures, memes and comments to anything pumpkin spice. And no matter how much we consume or buy, there will be no shortage of pumpkin or pumpkin spice anytime soon–so all our spice lovers can rejoice and have their fill until at least the end of fall.

In addition, Starbucks has decided to change the recipe for pumpkin spice this year so it now includes much more natural extracts and spices rather than their artificial ingredients, making it taste even more rich in the pumpkin flavor.

The pumpkin spice flavor is a fan favorite and with the change to ingredients, it has been in high demand, making it more than just the hype seen all over social media with the hashtag #PSL.

After the intense heat from the summer, customers have been driven to the Frappuccino version of the PSL . So it’s no wonder that the flavor has established itself as the essence of the season (even in the ongoing California heat) and has made its way through other coffee shops and grocery stores everywhere.

When it comes to the start of the holidays, pumpkin spice is definitely a must. It’s presence is ominous and there will be no chance of escaping the flavor, smell or social media posts.

Once it starts to get colder, we’ll definitely see even more pumpkin spice lattes in the hands of coffee lovers.
