Are women still objectified more than men?

There is a popular Instagram account that has been gaining the attention of females all over the world.

This account called “Dilfs of Disneyland,” has been featured in Huffington Post and even Daily Mail’s website. It currently holds over 314,000 followers and is continuously growing.

Instagram has become a platform for which people around the world can window shop for the opposite sex at any time of the day.

This particular account features all genre of men who are visiting Disneyland with their children. Some photos are candid photos taken anonymously or some are submitted by their own wives. Either way, there is something appealing about a man who can enjoy a good time with his children as well as being hot.

In a world of full of flaws and imperfections, women are looking for the perfect man in every aspect. What’s more appealing than a well groomed and fit man showing his children a good time? This concept seems to be drawing the attention of more women around the world.

As times are becoming more progressive many believe more men are becoming objectified and being treated as sex symbols.

For a long time, there used to be a huge problem with the objectification of women but times have changed. As more women are gaining power, no longer does objectifying go one way.

The meaning of the word “objectify” is to degrade to a status of a mere object.

Objectification of women derived from ancient times where men pillaged the earth claiming land, horses and women. The most beautiful women were claimed by the strongest men. They were treated as prized possessions and this was the root of the objectifying mentality of humans. Although there have been improvements for the equality of sexes, total equality is yet complete.

By men looking at women as mere objects and treating them as such, it lead to the oppression of women. Objectifying a woman is just as bad as oppressing them. By objectifying, people are looking down on a person and limiting their capabilities. They are setting a standard for them that people would not expect more from them otherwise because of their belief that they are valuable primarily for their appearance and nothing more.

The tides have changed and education is teaching us how the ignorance of our past has affected the human race entirely. Education will become the platform in which equality and fairness can exist and improve the quality of human lives.

Nowadays, more men are objectified by women. This happens because women are moving up in the world and becoming breadwinners. They look down on men and objectify them, setting a standard for them as well. Movies such as “Magic Mike” and Instagram accounts such as “DILFS of Disneyland” are a prime examples of how men can become objectified.

After thousands of years of objectifying women, women have now gained enough power to objectify men. But just because one can doesn’t mean that one should.

Women should realize the negative effects that were caused by the objectification by men and see how much it has damaged their past. Although it is unfair after a long history of oppression by men, women should just be the bigger and more knowledgeable person not to do so.

Ultimately, objectifying a human being is a very primitive thing to do. Whether it’s a man or a woman, it sets people back and causes no progress in the improvement of the human race.
