Downtown Fullerton has been revived in recent years as a market for nightlife. Bars, clubs and restaurants have been fighting for space and customers, rather successfully so, for years now. However, the antique stores and coffee shops they sought to replace are making a comeback.
Thus making the opening of Dripp, next to the old Fox Theatre – which is undergoing a renovation of it’s own.
Well known in Southern California, Dripp, the original location being in Chino Hills, is a shop that focuses on homemade ice cream, cookies and pour over coffees.
Walking in, one is welcomed to a large, open space. A massive countertop, and espresso bar stand in the middle of the room, with large windows that offer tons of natural light. A nice mix of electric, and low acoustic music accompany the flow of the space.
Dripp has a modern interior consisting of exposed brick, petrified wood, and even some walls literally lined with flattened and pressed books. Almost none of the color schemes match, and yet it all seems to flow nicely – one colored tile into the next.
“It’s so clashy that it works,” according to customer Tiffany Oliver, “The different tiles, and wall types make it stand out to the eye, and yet it all works into a beautiful space.”
To complement their masterfully designed interior, they have now incorporated a beautiful courtyard into their new location. Putting in a shaded patio space adds work space for the creatives and hipsters to loiter in for an eternity.
Dripp is a new fantastic addition to Downtown Fullerton. When asked why this location is special, shift leader Zane Grey responds, “The environment. The area of Orange County doesn’t have a coffee shop that’s as open as this. Not just space wise – but the staff is so welcoming, not just coffee snobs who sit behind a counter.”
Grey was also obliged to answer about why their coffee is so unique, “Geisha is a type of coffee bean only grown in certain regions of the world, and coffee shops around the globe compete and bid on who gets the bean. This allows us (Dripp) to brew some of the best coffee, sourced from Panama, which is why we do an unique pour-over style of brew. It gives the full flower, flavor profile that we want.”
Dripp is located on 500 N. Harbor Blvd. and will officially open to the public on Monday, Feb. 22.
