but also takes great pride in supporting its local community.

The Associated Students will be hosting a 5K Charity Run event on Saturday, May 14 from 8:00 a.m to 1:00 p.m.

The run will take place around the entire campus, starting near the quad and ending on the running track.

“Quadchella, our first large scale AS event this year, was a huge success that gave back to our campus,” Vice President of Associated Students, Justine Banal said. “So for spring semester, we wanted to give back to our extended community.”

The 5K Charity Run became a project for A.S. to put together in order to support the Speech and Language Development Center, a school in Buena Park for autistic individuals.

“Over winter break, the other AS execs and I conceived this idea to unite students, faculty, and our surrounding community,” Banal said.

When asked who can attend the event Banal said the event is open to everyone and students with A.S. benefits will make a minimum donation of $5. All others will make a minimum donation of $10 when asked who can attend the event. She also added everyone is more than welcome to donate more.

While A.S. is working diligently to cover all the preparation for the run, Banal mentioned that Fullerton’s faculty has generously offered to sponsor interested runners who cannot afford the minimum donation.

In addition to preparing for the event, A.S has exerted efforts in publicizing the run around campus, in the community, and online to get as many attendees as possible to support.

Another exciting addition to the 5K Charity Run includes a performance from Hi-Tops, a sign language dance team from the Speech and Language Development center.

There will also be a kids zone where representatives from Chuck E. Cheese, including the mascot himself, will be facilitating activities.

Banal encourages volunteers to be a part of the event saying they need volunteers to do everything from registration, monitoring the kids zone, and even cheering on the runners.
