Justice League gives fans what they have been waiting decades for: a good film that features six of DC’s greatest superheroes.

For the first time ever on the big screen, Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Aquaman and Cyborg join forces to protect the world.

After the events of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, (the death of Superman) the world has become a more dangerous place. Hope is lost as the hero who once stood for justice and hope is now gone.

Now that earth is defenseless, an ancient alien, Steppenwolf, wants to conquer the planet.

Bruce Wayne, (Ben Affleck) who has found new faith in mankind after Superman’s sacrifice, hopes to unite warriors with special abilities to help fight this threat. He learned from Lex Luthor of a possible invasion. Batman and Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) recruit Aquaman (Jason Mamoa), Cyborg (Ray Fisher), and the Flash (Ezra Miller).

The team’s chemistry is amazing and feels like each actor was born to play in their roles. They have great dialogue and their relationships among each other feel genuine. Not only do they get along as a group, but also as individuals.

This film introduces the Flash, Cyborg, Aquaman, and briefly touches on their backstories. Expect more to be revealed, as each hero is slated to have their own solo film.

DC is doing the opposite of Marvel meaning DC has them team up before their origin story.

I agree with Warner Bros. and do not think DC has to do solo films first, since many of these characters have been a part of pop-culture for 70+ years.

It was really rewarding to see all of these characters on screen working together.

There are some really cool action sequences in this movie and full of scenes pulled right out of the comics!

Justice League is a great film, but there are some flaws. Here’s the good and the bad.

The Good:

The Flash steals the show. He does serve as comedic relief, but it works with most jokes landing. The crowd enjoyed a lot of his quips and comments. Ezra Miller knocked it out of the park.

The characters are probably the strongest part of the movie. You care for them and can relate to them. Each character is at a different point of their life and “superhero career”, so it is neat to see the old interact with the new. The humor between them felt natural and funny.

It was really cool seeing the underwater world of Atlantis and the Flash run at high speeds in the speed force. Audiences have never seen that in film before.

The teamwork. These warriors know how to kick-ass and each of them have their own awesome moment.

One character has a huge impact in the final battle, and it was amazing to see it all unfold on the big screen.

The Bad:

The villain Steppenwolf is an all CGI character and it looks bad. For close ups, they should have had an actor in makeup.

The previous films in this franchise were scored by the legendary Hans Zimmer and Junkie XL. This time it is another legendary composer Danny Elfman, however his style does not match the tone and look of this universe when compared to Zimmer. Zimmer already built themes for this world and they were sorely missed in the movie.

The runtime. Warner Bros. mandated that the runtime for the film be under two hours. In a film in which you are trying to explain three characters’ origins while trying to expand the universe is not a wise decision. This leads me to my last negative.

Studio intervention. Justice League had a lot of pressure on it while filming due to the critical backlash of Batman v Superman, so there was a lot of drama behind the scenes. Fans knew this was going to be a lighter tone. But many hardcore fans miss that dark, seriousness that made the previous films before Justice League more artistic and bold. It seems the studio pandered to some of the critics.

Verdict:

All in all, Justice League is a great film full of fun and action and you are sure to leave the theater with a smile on your face. You’ll want to see what awaits our heroes in the next adventure. There are a couple of surprises and twists in this film to keep you on the edge of your seat.

Stick around after the credits, since there are two post credit scenes. Both are awesome enough to keep the die-hard fans giddy and the new fans eager to google what the scene meant.

Justice League is directed by Zack Snyder and is now playing in theaters.
