After making its way from a review process in Fullerton College, “WASP” is set to have its world premiere on Nov. 30 – Dec. 2 and Dec. 7 – 9. This history based theatre production will take place at 7:30 p.m. for the six nights in the Bronwyn Dodson Theatre.

“WASP” was submitted into Fullerton College’s Playwright’s Festival by New Jersey playwright Zan Hall. The playwright festival began on January 2016.

“WASP originally started as a one act and was expanded to a full length piece through the production process,” said Michael Mueller, director of the upcoming play. “It’s a really big deal for the campus and for the college to be a part of this process.”

The production “WASP”, which stands for Women Airforce Service Pilots, takes place during the tail end of WWII. This is a time when women are seen unfit to join in any military activity due to patriarchal traditions and lack of laws for equality.

Based on a true story, seven women join the Airforce in Sweetwater, Texas during a time when demand for military service pilots skyrocketed.

This comedy will be directed by Michael Mueller and is part of Fullerton College’s pursuit to take on more contemporary pieces of art to promote current screen writers as well as encourage future ones.
