From live music to fresh produce, the community of Fullerton gathered once again for the Farmer’s Market 28th Annual return on Thursday, April 4. A fun night in the heart of the city–downtown.
This season will run from April 4 through Oct. 24 every Thursday from 4 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. It is located off of Wilshire Ave. between North Harbor Blvd. and Pomona Ave. There are free parking lots near the event, including one right next to it.
“I enjoy the atmosphere, the beer and wine garden is also a major plus for me; it’s the perfect spot for my friends and I to catch up after a stressful week,” said Alan Gutierrez a Fullerton resident.
Not only can the adults drink beer and wine, but they can also purchase candles in a bottle. Jeff Hayden started his business called “Candles and Booze,” about a year ago. He recycles used booze bottles and transforms them into scented candles.
Plants, art and kids’ activities are all offered at the Farmers Market. The perfect outdoors event out with family, friends and even pets.
“I’m really big on supporting small businesses. I had a stressful job so when I’d get home gardening was therapeutic to me and little by little it became my business,” said Philip Rosales a first year vendor at the market and owner of Gift a Succulent.
The owner of Happy Faces & Balloon Art, Lilian, also added that she wishes she could’ve started her face painting business sooner as it’s made her happy.
Lilian’s face painting and balloons tent is set up right next to a bouncy house, a playground and a mini train ride– perfect spot to bring the kids out.
Empanadas, hot dogs and a variety of bread amongst other foods are also offered at the market. Richi Datin is the owner of Hawaiian Shaved Ice Sno- Biz/ Really Nutz. Datin has been operating his business there 17 years now for shaved ice and 12 years roasting nuts.
“All the smiles from kids and families [are my favorite part], i see all the young people all the way into college and it’s absolutely fantastic– best job in the world,” said Datin.
“If they don’t come for shaved ice or a bag of roasted nuts, they come to say hi,” added Datin.
The Farmers Market is an opportunity to support local small businesses of the community. A vendors guide and application is on the City of Fullerton website.
