With the spooky season of Halloween starting up, people are looking for places to get a good scare or just have some family fun. There are a variety of events happening here in Southern California and many of them are closer to Fullerton College than you think.

Looking for some local fun in Fullerton?

Start with the local ghost walk given by the North Orange County Paranormal Society. The starting point is at the Fullerton Museum, where groups will meet up at 5:30 p.m. for a meet and greet. Then, at 6 p.m. the walk begins and will last approximately two and a half hours as they walk you around the downtown area. This is not recommended for those under the age of 13.

Looking for something a bit scarier than a ghost walk? Then check out The 17th Door located at 1851 W Orangethorpe Ave Fullerton, CA 92833.

This is not your run of the mill haunted house and requires that any who enter here must sign a waiver first.

The parking is free, the scares are not. Tickets start at $25 and can be purchased on their website or in person. Check online for dates and times.

If you want to travel a little further to satisfy your scare, then check out these events happening outside of Fullerton.

Interested in more ghost walks? Then check out two of the tours offered by Haunted OC in Old Town Orange and Downtown Santa Ana.

Walk through the streets of Old Town Orange to learn about the all the haunted buildings and even learn which local restaurant is haunted.

In Santa Ana, tour goers will be able to learn the history of the local buildings and even get a tour inside the historic Dr. Willella Howe-Wafflle house.

Tickets for the tours start at $23 and are available for various nights throughout October. Tickets and dates can be found on the website for Haunted OC.

Not looking for a scare and just want to enjoy some spooky season fun? There are family friendly events happening near Fullerton too.

At the Old Towne Orange Plaza they’re having their annual Treats in the Streets Autumn Festival on Thursday October 24th from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

A couple of the activities include trick-or-treating at local merchants and even a light show by the Saber Guild.

The Anaheim Fall Festival located on the Center Street Promenade on Saturday October 26th is another event to check out. The Festival goes from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. but those who go should stick around later as they have a Halloween parade that starts at 6 p.m.

Some activities they will have are a Kiddie Costume Contest and a Halloween Pooch Pawrade.

Looking for a evening of fun and maybe a few wild animals? Head to Boo at the Zoo located at the Santa Ana Zoo 1801 E Chestnut Ave Santa Ana, CA 92701.

Bring the whole family to enjoy trick-or-treating, animal presentations, storytelling and much more. Also available for an additional cost is their “Boofari” Express Train, a carrousel and the ferris wheel where you get a birds eye view of the zoo.

Tickets start at $25 and are available online. This event is only for two weekends, October 19-20 and 26-27.

Still want something a little scarier? Then check out the scary season regulars.

Knott’s Scary is open on select nights from now until November 2nd and offers a couple new mazes this year; Wax Works and Origins: The Curse of Calico.

Tickets start at $43 and can be purchased online or in person at the park.

Knott’s also offers a more family friendly option during normal park hours. At Knott’s Spooky Farm, kids can go trick-or-treating and even get pictures with some of their favorite Peanuts characters.

Queen Mary Dark Harbor is a ship known to be haunted but has more scary effects added during the Halloween season such as mazes, monsters and other live entertainment. The new maze they are offering this year is called Rogue.

Tickets start at $34 and can be purchased online for select dates through November 2nd.

This year Universal Studios set their Halloween Horror Nights theme as the 1980s.

New mazes for this year include Ghost Busters, House of 1000 Corpses and Creep Show. Universal Studios even has two original mazes: Curse of Pandora’s Box and Holidayz in Hell.

Tickets start at $64 and can be purchased online or in person for select dates through November 2nd.
