The CalWORKs, CARE and FYSI teams of Fullerton College programs are collaborating together to host the 28th annual Adopt-an-Angel holiday event on Saturday, Dec. 10, 2024, at the 200 building. The event’s purpose is to bring cheer to every child with a gift this Christmas.
Since Nov. 4 faculty, staff, administrators, and community members have the opportunity to adopt an angel (or family by clicking here signupgenius). How it works is the parent and child have three wishes for this Christmas season of what they want, up to $40. Whoever adopts an angel can bring two wrapped gifts for the child and one wrapped gift for the child’s parent. The gifts can be dropped off at the Benjamin Franklin House located right off campus on 315 N. Pomona Ave. no later than Dec. 2.
“There has been a growth in numbers of children in need this year compared to last year,” said Mayra Novasky, counselor for the Fullerton College CalWORKS program.
In last year’s event there were around 150 participants and for this year, over 200 participants registered for Adopt-An-Angel.
“With the growing numbers this year shows that there is a need for families this holiday season,” says Novasky.
CalWORKs and CARE students, parents and their children are invited to attend the up-coming Adopt-An-Angel party which is filled with holiday fun with activities, food and refreshments. There will also be a special visit from Santa Claus. The children will have an opportunity to take a picture with St. Nick for them to take home. In addition to the upcoming party they will have an option to enter their name into an opportunity raffle for a Christmas tree.
Fullerton College departments CARE and CalWORKs are teaming up with the local Fullerton fire department to provide a gift for those families who do not have someone to sponsor them. So no matter what whoever signs up for the event someone will not be overlooked and have their wishes not granted.
