It was certainly an extreme yet emotional ride with the most recent installment of the Fast and Furious series, “Fast and the Furious 7.”
Released in showbox on April 3, the car-action flick, directed by James Wan (“Dead Silence,” “The Conjuring,” “Insidious”) and written by Chris Morgan (“Fast and Furious 4,” “Furious 6”) set the film to turbo.
“Furious 7” brings back many old faces with Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Dwayne Johnson and some new faces Kurt Russell and Jason Statham to join the film for the best ride of their lives.
The film also featured the last ride for original “Fast and Furious” cast member and fan favorite actor, Paul Walker. His unexpected death in a horrific car accident in late 2013 while attending a fundraiser in Los Angeles, halted production for this latest installment.
The film proved to be one of the best of all the Fast and Furious films, making more than $800 million worldwide.
“Fast and Furious 7” follows an ex-rogue special forces assassin, Deckard Shaw (Statham), as he seeks revenge for his comatose brother, which endangers Dominic Toretto (Diesel) and his whole crew. Mr. Nobody (Russell), a United States official for at top secret government facility joins in to help the crew gather information to find Shaw and put him down once and for all.
After Walker’s sudden passing, the studio acted fast and had to cast brothers Cody and Caleb Walker, who had never acted in their lives, to step in to take the role of their late brother in the film.
Cody, 26, a paramedic, did a lot of the voice and interaction acting while Caleb was used for fighting scenes and stunts. With the help of CGI, the directors were able to use proper imaging to make the brothers look more like Paul, which was not a difficult task, given the fact that they all have the same clean-cut physique.
The film took a very emotional turn at the end where homage was paid to Walker when Dominic gave a touching and heart felt monologue as he takes a cruise along the beach with Brian alongside him in the next car.
The movie not only displayed a sense of heart felt action but also depicted the love a family has for each other.
For fans of the Fast and Furious series who had been through it every step of the way; this film truly takes you for the ride of your life.
