In the heart of Downtown Fullerton you will find a cute, quirky little shop that is filled with an endless amount of nifty treasures.
Walking in the store, it would be easy for the customer to feel at home as the cozy and peaceful atmosphere welcomes them in.
For those die hard “do it yourself” people, Oh, Hello Friend is the place to go for all DIY projects.
They have jewelry, stationaries, journals, planners, gift cards, women’s clothing, temporary tattoos, pens, pencils and little hidden gems that you have to dig for.
Before it became a shop, OHF started out as a blog in 2008 by Danni Hong. Hong always greeted one of her friends with a “Oh, Hello Friend” throughout high school and that phrase just stuck.
“Names are really hard to think of. When I was thinking of my blog name, I was like ‘What should I do?’” Hong said. “I was sketching up ideas and I had hello lovely and then oh, hello friend came up and I went with that.”
Hong has been in love with all things vintage for as long as she can remember. Her love of vintage style even inspired her to decorate her wedding with all sorts of vintage items.
“I love vintage things and I love the stories behind it,” Hong said.
Inside the shop there is an old big rusty cash register that Hong discovered while antiquing with her husband.
“I love that piece, even though it doesn’t really work anymore,” Hong said.
After she started her blog, Hong also opened up an Etsy account on the e-commerce website and started to attend local craft shows in the area. She eventually started attending craft shows all over the country, which then sparked her interest in opening a shop.
“I always kind of wanted to open a shop but I never did because I was kind of scared,” Hong said. “Then last year we were like why not and we opened the shop in February.”
Hong chose Fullerton as the ideal location for her shop because it was close to her home in Brea and there was an available spot.
“I love the downtown area, there’s a lot of cool shops,” Hong said.
This spring Oh, Hello Friend is offering a couple different workshops. Some of the workshops that will be available are calligraphy, candle making, string art, water colors and a succulent wreath workshop.
There will also be a craft night where customers will be working on 10 different crafts. The workshops also include all of the supplies that will be needed.
This summer Oh, Hello Friend will open a second location in Tustin.
