What does the health fee provide for us

Although their doors will remain “physically” closed, the Health Center will continue to offer important services on an appointment basis by phone call. Due to Covid- 19, questions, care, and referral are done via telecommunication, and if necessary, a visit to the center.

Services provided range from clinical, educational, and psychological depending on student needs.

Students have access to qualified professionals, including doctors, nurse practitioners, medical assistants, and psychologists.

Though many of these benefits are provided without charge, some may require a small fee. Clinical services include diagnosis/treatment of short-term illness, First Aid, medication/prescriptions, birth control, breast, and pelvic exams, and orthopedic supplies.

They also offer laboratory tests as well. These include blood, urine analysis, pregnancy tests, pap exams, STDs, and certain skin tests.

Flu shots are available at no cost to students. According to Kelly Salazar, the Health Education Coordinator, flu shots will be offered in September on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Morning and afternoon appointments are available.

If you struggle with depression, anxiety, self-esteem, family, relationships, or need someone to talk to for counseling, call to schedule a meeting with a licensed mental health professional.

“Call us sooner rather than later to start meeting with our providers.” Salazar strongly encourages students to reach out and utilize the psychological services offered. She emphasized this by citing how expensive therapy can be elsewhere.

Therapists are readily available to assist with mental health needs. However, if you are experiencing an emergency, physical or mental, please dial 911.

Health education is available to students. Nurse practitioners are available via Zoom on Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on the 2, 6, and 26 of September if you have any medical-related questions.

Visit the Fullerton College Student Health Services web page for Zoom link information and details concerning Fullerton College or Student Health Services offers.
