The Synergy Vocal Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Lab Band at Fullerton College experiment with contemporary jazz while staying rooted in the genre’s rich tradition. Both groups have performed at concerts and festivals throughout Southern California, showcasing their sound to larger audiences.

The ensembles are supported by a dedicated student rhythm section that brings energy and cohesion to every performance. Developing jazz musicians are introduced to essential big band literature by the Jazz Lab Band, which guides them through the fundamentals of interpretation and ensemble communication. The Synergy Vocal Jazz Ensemble takes vocal performance into new realms. The ensemble uses as many as 16 singers, each on their own microphone.

These ensembles collectively illustrate how the students are merging practice with experimentation to showcase the art of jazz music to our community.
