Fullerton College Associated Students elections run from until April 17. Results will be announced on April 21 at the next Senate meeting.
As voting season continues for the next Associated Students elections until April 17, some candidates are creating Instagram accounts and posting reels to garner attention and votes, while others are going around campus handing out candy and posting flyers.
Some candidates have teamed up in an attempt to be elected together. Kevin Sasaki and Ally Sultan, Fullertwns on Instagram, are running for Vice Presidents of Public Relations and Senate, respectively. They make meme-like reels, where they dance with “brain-rot” characters like Tung Tung Sahur.
Another “team” in the running includes six candidates who call themselves the Hive Team. The team includes Julieta Gonzalez as President of Student Senate, Gabriela Miranda as Vice President of Student Senate, Kay Su as Vice President of Activities, Amelia Tran as Vice President of Finance, Samantha Meili as Student Trustee, and Kaushal Pachhai as Vice President of Records. The team also posts reels of team members dancing and following trends to advertise themselves on their Instagram, fullcol.hive. Candidates part of “The Hive Team” also walk around campus, handing out candy to students who vote.
In total, there are 29 candidates this year. Voting is open to Fullerton College students via a form on the AS FC website. Voting closes on April 17 at 11:59 p.m., and the results will be announced on April 21 at the Student Senate meeting, where elected senators and executives will be sworn in.
