The Fullerton resident was detained Wednesday at 8:45 a.m. after questioning by investigators, according to Fullerton police.

Munoz’s arrest was made based on information from a preliminary investigation prior to the fire.

Investigators believe a transient encampment in the Coyote Hills area caused the blaze.

Munoz has been charged with negligent causing of a fire with injuries, police said.

The fire, which began shortly before 4 p.m. Tuesday, reportedly began at the intersection of Castlewood Drive and North Gilbert Street.

The blaze burned through 80 acres northwest of the intersection and has since then been 100 percent contained.

Two firefighters sustained injuries during the fight.

The investigation remains on-going and is being handled by the Fullerton Police Department Property Crimes Unit.
