The New Nixon Library

After 25 years, the Richard Nixon Presidential Library in Yorba Linda, CA is undergoing a $15 million renovation to its indoor exhibits.

Last November of 2015, renovations began to create an all new, modern and interactive presentation of the life and legacy of the 37th president.

The celebration begins October 14 with an 11:00 a.m. ceremony presented by special guests Dr. Henry Kissinger, President Nixon’s brother Ed Nixon and grandchildren Melanie Eisenhower and Christopher Nixon Cox, along with California governors Arnold Schwarzenegger and Pete Wilson.

Admission will be free to the public and museum hours will be extended to 9 p.m.

The celebration continues the whole weekend. On October 15, there will be biographers of Nixon and discussions with the people who helped bring visitors a brand new look at his legacy.

Sunday, Oct. 16 will be “family fun day”.

Although the exhibits had hours worth of reading and information, the new exhibits will be interactive for adults and students.

Chris Barber, 26, and Digital Content Manager of the foundation, is all for the upgrade.

“I think it’s a major positive because one, it brings the museum to the technological standards of the 21st century and two, it allows us to tell a more compelling story of Richard Nixon by utilizing the immersive and thought provoking powers of multimedia elements,” said Barber.

In addition, guests will now be able to step forth into an exact replica of Richard Nixon’s Oval Office.

The Marine One helicopter was moved off site a few weeks ago to be renovated just in time for opening day.
